A free trolley now loops through the City of Davison and parts of Davison Township. The Genesee County Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) service started as a one-year pilot on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 and runs Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026, with no service Monday, Wednesday or Sunday (Genesee County View, May 7, 2026). By late May, WNEM reported the Davison pilot was running through parts of the city and township (WNEM, May 25, 2026).

The route links downtown, groceries and both municipal offices

Stops include VG's Market, Irish Road and Court Street, the Davison Farmers Market, shops in the Kroger plaza, Central Elementary School, the Davison Area Senior Citizen Center, Davison Village (Salvation Army, Huntington Bank), the Davison Municipal Center, the Davison Meijer and the Davison Township offices (Genesee County View, May 7, 2026).

The stops put riders within walking distance of local restaurants including Apollo Coney Island, Black Rock, Charcoal & Ash, Guido's Pizza, John's Pizzeria, Leo's Coney Island, Lucky's Steakhouse, Madden's Lounge and Whitey's, according to the Genesee County View. The same report lists nearby residential areas including Belle Meade, Charter Oaks, Chatwell Club, Continental Estates, Kearsley Cree, Lion's Gate, River Ridge, Wildwood and Windsor Place (Genesee County View, May 7, 2026).

A city press release quoted by WFNT described the route this way: "This new route will connect key destinations across Davison, including shopping centers, restaurants, parks, and community spaces" (WFNT, April 30, 2026).

Published hours and loop times differ by source

The Genesee County View reported hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all four service days and said the full route is expected to take about one hour to complete (Genesee County View, May 7, 2026). WFNT, citing the city's release, listed Friday hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday running 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and described "a consistent 30-minute loop" (WFNT, April 30, 2026). Riders who want to catch a late Friday trolley should confirm the current schedule with the MTA.

WFNT also reported the trolley has audio announcements for upcoming stops and interior digital signage, with real-time tracking through an app listed as coming soon (WFNT, April 30, 2026).

One trolley, up to 34 riders, wheelchair accessible

The city expects to run one trolley at a time. The vehicle may be blue, red or white depending on availability and maintenance. It holds up to 34 passengers, including riders using wheelchairs or mobility devices, and service animals are permitted, according to the MTA (Genesee County View, May 7, 2026). Riders will find designated trolley stop signs along the route (Genesee County View, May 7, 2026).

Davison Mayor Stacey Kalisz said the goal is to improve accessibility for residents who rely on public transit. The program came out of work by the Davison City Council, the city manager, the Downtown Development Authority and the MTA (Genesee County View, May 7, 2026).

The idea started late last year

In December 2025, ABC12 reported that Davison city leaders were studying a trolley modeled on programs in Fenton and Linden, with a meeting with the MTA planned for February (ABC12, December 24, 2025). The same month, Davison Township's board minutes record that the MTA's CEO "spoke about bus service to Meijer; doing a route study; trolley" (Davison Township Board minutes, December 8, 2025).

Fenton's trolley is off this year

The Davison pilot started the same season Fenton's trolley stopped. The City of Fenton said its trolley, part of an MTA pilot that began in 2022, would not run in 2026 because of budget timing. "It just became a matter of timing where as a city, we have to do our budget process so early," Assistant City Manager Michael Hart told WNEM. Hart said the city did not have resolution on whether it would have to pay for the program or on a change in routes, and called the trolley "a very nice amenity to have" (WNEM, May 25, 2026).

Davison's pilot is set for one year, and nothing published so far says whether it will continue after Dec. 12.

What this means if you are buying or selling in Davison

If you are selling a home within walking distance of a trolley stop, say so in your listing and note the service days and the Dec. 12 end date for this pilot season. If you are buying, check how close the home is to a stop and whether the pilot gets renewed before you count on it.

Every listing I take gets professional photos and video, room sizes, targeted digital ads, and targeted buyer avatars. Call or text Carrie Thompson at (810) 893-3269.
